Master in International Affairs

Master in International Affairs (MIA)

Program Description

In today’s rapidly changing world, strong analytical skills and the integrated contribution of complementary disciplines are essential to understand new dynamics and design actions. The MIA comprises substantial familiarisation with at least two disciplines and concentration on two topics chosen from three options (global and regional integration, security and conflict management, global society). The MIA affords an opportunity to acquire or enhance the technical skills necessary for effective analysis and decision-making (quantitative methods, negotiating techniques and project management). Finally, it allows earning credits by doing an internship of at least six weeks, to be completed during the course of studies.
The MIA requires a strong commitment and offers an educational experience based on intensive small group discussions with the teaching staff. Participants thus have an opportunity:
• to develop and practice an interdisciplinary approach in seminars given jointly by professors of different disciplines;
• to give free rein to their creativity and analytical capacity in seminar work based on personal research and in the final dissertation written during the second year of studies.
